Ford Edge and Toyota RAV4 are both compact crossover SUVs which are manufactured by the Detroit based American car maker Ford Motor Company and Toyota City based Japanese car maker, Toyota Motor Corporation. Both of these car makers are the leaders in the trade and compete with each other along with a number of other similar car makers around the world. The Toyota RAV4 was the first compact SUV that gave this particular shape the huge success which it has seen today. The competitors of both of these vehicles are Subaru Forester, Chevrolet Equinox and Honda CR-V etc.
Ford edge is available in three different engine types which are a turbocharged 2.0 liter engine with 240 hp and 270 pound feet, a 3.5 liter V6 with 285 hp and 253 pound feet and a 3.7 liter V6 with 305 hp and 280 pound feet. These engines are mated to a 6 speed auto transmission. On the other hand, the Toyota RAV4 comes with two engine options as a 2.5 liter 4 cylinder engine with 179 hp and 172 pound feet and a 3.5 liter V6 with 269 hp and 246 pound feet. The four cylinder engine is mated to a four speed auto transmission and V6 is mated to five speed transmission.

All the engines are mated to the six speed auto transmission that saves a great deal on fuel and adds to the overall performance. The fuel economy would remain between 17 mpg to 30 mpg depending upon the terrain, the engine configurations etc.
