The BMW X1 was officially launched in Europe in November 2009. Unveiled for the first time at the Frankfurt Auto Show, its launch in the US has been delayed until late 2012. The major reasons behind the delay of the US launch are that its huge popularity is making it difficult for the Leipzig plant to meet the demands and secondly it is facing tough competition from the BMW X3.
