Audi Q1 Expected in 2013
2013 Audi Q1 is one of the off road cars that Audi AG is very seriously working on. The Audi Q1 is expected to be launched in the year 2013. This is another milestone in the Q series of Audi. It will be sharing the floors in Audi showrooms along with the likes of Audi Q7, Q5 and Q3. Q1 is going to be a compact SUV which will be launched by the German car maker sometime in the year 2013. Compact crossover is another segment for which all the major car makers are competing fiercely. The four rings auto maker has always made it a point that its cars are a class apart. The German car maker has always succeeded in giving its rivals a tough time.
The reason why the compact crossovers may be huge hits is because they come with the performance of SUV but the luxury of the regular small cars. As the size becomes small, even the handling of the cars also becomes very easy comparatively. The declining big SUV market, once a forerunner in the auto business race around the world, has started making the car manufacturers to rethink their strategies and lineup placement in order to get the declining sales back figures to the normal. The Audi had launched its first crossover model in the year 2005 with the launch of the Audi Q7. Among an interesting development, Audi’s SUVs especially the crossover lineup has been constantly shrinking in size right from the launch of Q7.
Talking about the architecture possibilities, we reckon there must be three possible architectures that Audi may use for building the new 2013 Audi Q1. It may be based on the Audi A1 hatchback. Secondly it may come in the modular architecture which the new A3 would be based on. The last possibility may be based on the architecture of the soon to be launched Audi A2.
As far as the performance of the new is concerned, it is most likely going to have the engines from a 1.4 TFSI engine generating 160 hp to a 2.0 TDI 140 hp engine. The diesel versions will have 1.2 liter TDI that will be able to generate 80 hp and a 1.6 liter engine that would be able to generate 100 hp to 120 hp.
The new Audi Q1 will be in direct competition with the likes of Nissan Juke and Mini Paceman. The big SUV market has been seeing a considerable decline in recent past. Because of this the auto makers are looking at different options to tap into the market.
The Q1 will be available in a 5 door body and will be come with front wheel drive as well as all wheel drive options. The price has not yet been officially confirmed but as the rumours go around, they predict the compact SUV to be priced around $35,000.
