Hyundai has managed to keep all car manufacturers on pins and on the edge of their seats before they launched the Hyundai EON. Set to compete against the Maruti’s limited edition small family car Alto and Chevrolet’s highly popular and successful Spark, the Hyundai Eon was bound to ruffle the feathers of established car manufacturer’s in India. Maruti Alto and Chevrolet Spark both have good host of features and are well established in their own sectors ready to competitively compete against any new entrant.
All three cars have varying engine capacities within the same bracket, ranging from 796cc to 814cc till 995cc; of Maruti Alto, Hyundai EON and Chevrolet Spark respectively. The 9 valves in the Eon engine gives better mileage but the lesser number of valves might cause frequent changing of gears in heavy traffic or while driving on hilly terrain. The EON provides 1-2 kmpl better mileage than the Alto or Spark.

Maruti AltoThough the petrol and CNG variants available with the Maruti Alto might draw certain customers to it; considering that there is a large chunk of customer base who are slowly shifting to the cheaper and cleaner fuel option of CNG. The cars do not differ much in their exteriors either measuring the same on all aspects from length to wheel base.
The Hyundai Eon has the fluid concept of designing developed by the Hyundai designers giving it an up-market like exterior finish. The EON also boasts of a longer wheelbase than Maruti Alto and Chevrolet Spark. The EON’s drawback in exteriors would be the small indicators which are often not visible when the headlights are on full beam.

Hyundai EonComing to the interiors of each car, the customer vote has already started favoring the Hyundai Eon in terms of comfort because of its width and leg room in the rear seats allowing three healthy adults to sit comfortably. The drawback in the EON is lack of adjustable head rests in the front seats. They can neither be removed nor adjusted according to the height of occupants. With good quality interiors in each, plush and luxurious for their segment all three car manufacturers have given the very best to their customers. If you are choosy and conscious over space then the vote should definitely be for the Hyundai EON. The EON is definitely more stylish in terms of interiors and exteriors when compared to the other cars.

Chevrolet SparkThe EON is definitely heavier and hence has better handling and maneuverability. The Chevrolet Spark definitely does offer a more powerful engine and the Maruti Alto gives the stability and assurance of brand name but when it comes to pricing Hyundai EON again wins hands down by being the lowest priced car. For the price tag it sports it definitely offers much more features. Though the Maruti Alto costs less than the Hyundai EON it offers less leg room in the rear seats and pick up with AC is poor.
So if you are looking for a car with an affordable price tag plus loaded with features then Hyundai EON is your best bet.
