Toyota Tundra and Toyota Tacoma both are pickup trucks manufactured by the Japanese auto maker Toyota Motor Corporation. Tundra is a full size pickup truck whereas Tacoma is more of a small or mid size pickup truck. Tundra was introduced in the year 2000 but Tacoma is a bit older and got introduced in 1995 though. Both have managed to receive a number of awards in the trucks category which indicates how good they have been on performance and carrying out their expected jobs.

The 2011 Tundra is available in a number of engine options. It begins with the 4.0 liter V6 that can deliver 270 hp of power and 278 pound feet of torque. This engine is mated to a five speed auto transmission. Then you have another option i.e. a 4.6 liter V8 which can generate 310 hp of power. The next level up is a 5.7 liter V8 that can deliver 381 hp of power. The V8 engines are mated to a six speed transmission. The towing capacity is pegged at 9000 pounds but the maximum payload capacity is 1555 pounds. The Toyota Tacoma is available in three trim levels and two engine options. You can choose between a 2.7 liter four cylinder engine that can generate 159 hp which is mated to the optional five speed manual transmission or the four speed auto transmission, the second engine option for Tacoma buyers is a 4.0 liter V6 that can deliver a powerful 236 hp and is mated to a six speed manual transmission or you can get a five speed auto transmission.

2011 Toyota Tundra2011 Toyota Tacoma

Toyota Tundra and Toyota Tacoma both are available in three different cab configurations and a number of engine options to choose from as well. In comparison Tundra outshines Tacoma on interiors. The space available is larger in Tundra. Air conditioning and audio capabilities are available in both the models. But when we talk about the availability of features, Tundra is again a winner in this area as well. It offers facilities like leather seats, auto climate control and moon roof. These features are not available in Tacoma though.

When it comes to looks, both off great looks for a truck. For better utility purposes, the availability of space is a prime concern. 2011 Tundra offers much larger space. It looks bigger and wider as well. The towing capacity is also greater than what Tacoma could come with.

It is worth noting though that the smaller and “lacking at other levels” Tacoma offers a much better fuel economy. This is inevitable though because of lack of performance. On almost all other fronts Toyota Tundra is a winner against Toyota Tacoma.

Talking about the price, Toyota Tundra is available from $24,435 whereas Toyota Tacoma starts at $16,365 which is approcimately a price gap of $8,000.
