Volkswagen has recently unveiled the next generation Beetle. The car is now punched with bold looks, newer features and all in all a new distinct image. The flower vase of the older model is now gone and is replaced with a screen. So, from now, it can’t be called a chick’s car.

2012 VW Beetle

The last update to the Beetle was done in 1998 which is now far too long. The original shape of this car has been an icon through the ages. The 2012 VW Beetle is more modern and seems to have lost its original royal values but has got lot more add-ons. The company has increased its overall dimensions and the Beetle is now longer and wider to accompany the passengers more comfortably. The dashboard is made with high grade materials and is designed decently to reflect sportier presence.

The major reason for this step was the declining sales. In US alone, only around 26,700 Beetles were sold last year. After the debut of third generation 2012 VW Beetle, the company now expects rise in sales along with the icon image.

But though with the new launch, is the car loosing its retro identity?
