2011 Ford Fiesta: The Unmatched Machine!
Ford Fiesta, one of the most loved cars in the whole world, is really an amazing package to own. The newly designed 2011 Fiesta is refreshingly a very tough competitor for its rivals Honda City, Hyundai Verna, Fiat Linea and Swift Dzire. The interior is targeted for a very modern and sporty appeal, whereas few features have also been added like start/stop button to allow keyless entry for driver and 7-stage airbags including knee airbag for extra safety.
The 2011 Fiesta is available in 2 different forms to suit varying needs. One can opt the car in a 4-door sedan or a 5-door hatchback form. Fiesta is most famous and successful in the sedan form, but to cope up for the congestion on roads, the hatchback form will work more fine. The engines, interiors and features are all kept same in both forms, the difference in just the rear boot portion.
Engine
Inside the hood, there is a powerful 1.6L Duratec engine producing a power of 120hp@6350rpm with a max torque of 112lb ft@5000rpm which is slightly extra than its main rival Honda City. There is only a single engine choice in the globally available Fiesta model and both the sedan and hatchback carry that same engine. There will be an addition of a diesel variant sooner.
The transmission system in the Fiesta is the traditional and boring one, that is, 5-speed manual. But for a thrilling and stress free drive the company gives an optional 6-speed automatic system for some extra bucks. The automatic transmission is designed to provide torque to the wheels 100% of time to let the driver feel connected all the time. The transmission is designed maintenance free and doesn’t requires any oil change till 150,000 miles.
Interior
With a class of cozy cabin and gentle workmanship all around, you will feel soothing inside the car. The cabin is designed cozy and the dashboard is designed sportier. The combination could have been better if the dashboard would have been a designed a bit decently. But well, it all depends on sole choice. The steering wheel of this car is an awesome thing to hold while driving. The gentle design and its looks can all beat any other steering wheel.
There is a choice of three levels among the Sedan as well as the Hatchback. The sedan is available as S, SE or SEL whereas the Hatchback can be opted from SE or the SES model. The basic S version of both the cars include AM/FM stereo with four speakers (No CD), auxiliary jack, air conditioning, 4-way manually adjustable driver seat, power steering, 4” multifunctional LCD screen in front dashboard, 12V power socket and rear defroster. The basic model includes very little things in its interiors and that doesn’t make any sense if you don’t have few amenities like power windows, central locking a good audio system etc in such a class of car. So opting for the middle SE is a feasible choice as it includes a single CD audio system with 4-speakers, power windows, metallic trim steering wheel, power door locks and optional ambient lighting. And, if you have a good budget, allow the fully loaded car which comes with premium audio system, optional moon roof and optional keyless entry package that eases you for a little show off.
Exterior
From the outside, the car looks like any other car with a bit more muscles. The looks are what I feel that is keeping the Fiesta a bit behind Honda City. Although, the new 2011 Fiesta is designed much better ever than before. The car possess technically developed aerodynamic looks that offer greater fuel efficiency due to less air resistance. There is even a Fuel Economy Package that adds few features that enhance Fiesta’s fuel efficiency quite a few miles. The looks of the Fiesta will appeal for those who love simplicity and like to stay decent.
Pros
- Suits any class whether it is a student or a family guy.
- Most powerful car in its category.
- Fuel efficient.
- Optional Start/Stop function, rarely available in such class of cars.
Cons
- Lack of standard features like power windows and central locking.
- The rear cargo space is just average.
- Single choice in engine.
- Rear legroom a little tight.
