Honda CityHonda City is one most fabulous car which is known to the world. It has a very good reputation among the mid-segment sedan cars. The journey of this Honda City started from 1981, which was a three door hatchback car with a 1231cc engine and the looks were very uneven if we compare it with the present version. The car started acquiring better looks in 1986, but still it was a 3-door hatchback version. After a good market hold of this version, the company decided to give a major uplift in looks as well as engine. This is the period were the car started resembling the looks which match the present platform of car. The car was built on Honda’s Civic platform which made a car to take boost in the mid segment premium cars. The engine was also updated with a 1.5LVTEC engine which can rush from 0-100kmph in just 10 seconds. The next version of car was released in 2002 which attracted many people towards the sedans. You can see these models on roads presently. In 2007, Fiat Linea was launched in the mid-sedan segment with 8 variations to compete with Skoda Octavia, Ford Fiesta and Maruti SX4. There are more in the competition, but am counting only the major ones.

Fiat Linea

Honda City is available in 4 versions in which the three are on manual transmission and one is on automatic paddle shift transmission. The car is ultra luxurious in its segment and can boasts off its features. It is already known to everyone that Honda is known for its class products. The buyers of Honda are mostly comfortable with their chosen brand and won’t try to opt any other brand until and unless they get some major features and luxury. Honda City is surely a better option then Fiat Linea. There are many features lacking in Linea on comparing it with City. The major ones are, power rear view mirror as a standard, Average Fuel Consumption Display with Distance to Emty Display, Headlight Alarm, ABS as standard in all versions, Rear De-Fogger and a few more. Although there are few feature admirable about Linea; the cabin lights are auto dimming with timer which is a very rare feature in any car; the second is the separate A/C vent for rear passengers; the third is electric tail gate in the most high end model which is again a rare feature. One thing that lacks in Linea is that none of its model is available in automatic transmission.

Honda City is equipped with 1.5L I-VTEC engine producing a max power of 118ps@6600rpm with a max torque of 146Nm@4800rpm. There is only one engine option with Honda City. Fiat Linea has two engine options; one is 1.3L Advanced Multijet Diesel engine which churns out the max power of 93ps@4000rpm with a max torque of 209Nm@2000rpm and the other engine is 1.4L Fire Petrol engine producing the max power of 90ps@6000rpm at the max torque of 115ps@4000rpm So if power is concerned, then of course Honda City is more powerful and responsive.

The price range of Honda City varies from Rs.8.5 lacs to Rs.9.8 lacs approximately. There are few upgrade packages available to personalize your car with few more luxury features which vary from Rs.35000 to Rs.78000. As compared to Honda City, Linea is far better priced. The price range of Linea starts from Rs.6.4lacs and goes upto Rs.8.7lacs. The price range Linea almost ends at the starting range of Honda City. So Linea is also a good option if you have a price range of around Rs7-8lacs, then go for the high end version of Linea containing all the features. But if you have a lust for Honda City, then I can’t change what you think about other cars, but do have a look on Linea’s premium model.
