Honda’s Giant New SUV CR-V 2010; A Soft Review
Honda Cars are blessed to launch perfect cars. Each and every car from this company had always been a boom in their categories. City, Civic and Accord, all are the marvelous examples of class production.
Honda CR-V is my first choice in SUV (Sports Utility Vehicle) category. From time to time the company has introduced changes in CR-V to adapt the changing requirements and as a result of these, the car stays at top in SUV (as rated by the buyers). There has been a lot of care taken for the selection of features and luxuries present in the car. Let’s have a throughout check one by one starting with the Looks.
Looks
The car definitely looks like a ruler on the road. It surely turns the heads wherever it passes by. A very bold grill, front bumper with perfect curves, chrome finish bordered windows all gives the car a very bold look. Only thing I felt was the lack of projector lights. But later on I found out that in new models they had already placed the projector headlamps with a black look. I don’t think there is any other flaw in looks and whoever is reading this post might already have seen the giant New SUV CRV, so I guess I don’t have to say any more about the looks.
The alloy wheels come as a standard and side mirrors are also loaded with side indicators adding to the smartness of the vehicle. There is a moon-roof too can be flipped as well as can be slid inside.
Engine
The car is powered by a 2354cc in-line 4-cylinder i-VTEC, 2.4L engine creating a max power of 180ps@6800 rpm and can generate a max torque of 161Nm at 4400rpm which is good enough for greater acceleration. There is a drive-by-wire throttle system available in the premium model with 5-speed automatic transmission. The mileage is not so surprising; it just gives 8kmpl inside city and a bumpy 10kmpl on highways. The real time 4-wheel-drive is an added in these two models for off-road purpose.
There is another version of an engine also which is boosted by a 1997cc, 2.0L i-VTEC engine creating a max power of 143PS@6000 rpm and a max torque of 190@4200 rpm. It doesn’t carry the drive-by-wire system and runs by a 6-speed-manual transmission gearbox. The additional gear is added to reduce the engine noise and lower the rpm. This model is available in 2-wheel-drive format only and gives the mileage of around 12kmpl inside city.
Interiors
The interiors are quiet obvious very soothing and will make you feel more comfortable then you are expecting. The large car just carries a sitting capacity of 5 passengers, which indicates that the room for each passenger is divided with a thought of providing each passenger a bit of extra comfort. There is an integrated music system attached with 6 speakers and with the high end model (EX-L), you get a subwoofer too and a Bluetooth system for connectivity to your phone. There will be a USB interface too with the EX-L model making easy to carry your selected play list anytime, anywhere. The driver seat is attached with 10 way power adjustment and heated seats are available in the EX-L model.
The model varies in three. The base range is a 2 Wheel Drive model supporting 6-speed manual transmission which is priced at Rs 2,277,100*. The other two models are added with real time 4-wheel-drive of which one is manual transmission model priced at Rs 2,426,400* and the other is with automatic transmission priced at Rs 2,504,800*.
(* Ex- showroom Mumbai).
There is actually no other option if you have around Rs. 25 lacs to spend on an SUV. All other rivals are lack in features and looks when they are compared with this SUV CRV.
