Maruti 800

Maruti has decided to discontinue Maruti 800 in 13 major cities from April 2010 as the car cannot comply with Euro IV emission norms. The car will be available in the other parts of India as the Euro IV norms are not standard in these cities.

The car was launched in 1983 with a box type look which looks like an historical car currently. The model continuously adapted major changes accordingly with time.

Maruti 800: Model 1983

1983- Maruti 800 was launched in India with lot of appreciation.

Maruti 800: Model 86

1986- New model of the car was launched and 1,00,000 cars till now were produced by            the company.

1987- 500 cars were exported to Hungary.

Maruti 800: Model 1997

1997- Standard and Deluxe model are released, second change in the car after 1986.

Maruti 800: Model 1999

1999- Maruti 800 EX model released with a lot of major uplifts.

Then there were a few minor changes to make the model comfortable along with time.

The decision to discontinue the 800 is surely going to degrade the value of car in the cities were they are planned to be not available. So if anyone planning to buy a second-hand 800, buy it from these cities, you might get a good benefit of discontinuation.

Surely maruti has a lot of models to work with, so there might be no affect on sales of the company.
